Death Notice: Brad Tibbetts

Brad Tibbetts, a resident of South Portland, passed away on April 17, 2026. He was 59 years old.
A gathering to honor Tibbetts' life will be held on July 23 at 2 p.m. at the Willows on Broadway in South Portland. Family, friends, and community members are welcome to attend the memorial event.
Tibbetts was born and raised in southern Maine, where he spent his entire life. He worked as a carpenter for more than three decades, earning a reputation among colleagues and clients for his craftsmanship and reliability. Those who knew him described him as a quiet man of strong principles who valued honesty and hard work.
"Brad never met a stranger," said longtime friend Michael Connors. "If you needed help with a project, he was there. He didn't talk much, but his work spoke for itself."
Tibbetts was an avid fisherman who spent much of his free time along the shores of Casco Bay. He also enjoyed woodworking, creating custom furniture and small wooden toys that he often gave to neighbors' children.
He is survived by his sister, Karen Tibbetts of Scarborough, and several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
The memorial gathering at Willows on Broadway will provide an opportunity for those whose lives Brad touched to share memories and celebrate his legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the South Portland Food Pantry, an organization Tibbetts quietly supported for years.
