Windham dealt Kennebunk its only loss of the regular season on May 19, and though the Eagles received multiple first-place votes in the next two Varsity Maine girls lacrosse polls, they were relegated to third place. Not anymore. Windham has taken over second behind Kennebunk, which as been ranked No. 1 in every poll this spring.
The likely culprit for the Eagles’ jump to second is Cheverus’ 18-10 win over previous No. 2, Thornton, on June 3. That victory elevated the Stags from fifth [last week](https://www.sunjournal.com/2026/06/02/class-c-team-rises-in-varsity-maine-girls-lacrosse-poll/) to No. 4, a spot behind the Golden Trojans.

Though Windham, the defending Class A champion, jumped Thornton in the Varsity Maine poll, the Golden Trojans are seeded second in Class A while the Eagles are third.
