Graham Platner still has my vote in November | Letter
100%

Several times daily I have the pleasure of watching Zohran Mamdani do something great for New York City, or Abdul El-Sayed win the Democratic Senate nomination in Michigan, or any of the other numerous progressive candidates moving forward in so many wonderful states. I get excited and feel hopeful.

Then I always remember that Maine voters had that same joy and enthusiasm about our Democratic nominee last spring, and my rage rises up against members of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), who — in their “infinite wisdom”— joined their Republican colleagues in crushing the most political passion I have seen in Maine since 2008.

This is the same approach the DNC took in 2016 when they tried to shut out Bernie Sanders, which resulted in (the Democratic vote/party?) losing most of Sanders’ army of newly active young folks, who would probably have saved us from our current crisis.

After a lifetime as a born and bred Democrat, with nearly 60 years of party activism, my last vote will be to write in Graham Platner in November.
