‘Home Improvement’ star Jonathan Taylor Thomas makes rare appearance in reunion photo with co-stars

Jonathan Taylor Thomas rose to fame as Randy Taylor, quickly becoming a teen heartthrob and landing roles in films such as Tom and Huck and Man of the House. In the years since, he has explored a variety of pursuits: he founded a vegan food company, worked as an installation artist and contributed to the development of energy‑efficient water‑purification systems used abroad. His personal life, however, has had its share of turbulence. He married Heidi Van Pelt when he was 17 and she was 16 years older; the marriage ended in divorce in 2007. Smith later became embroiled in a legal dispute with his parents over control of a reported $1.5 million trust fund, a conflict that was eventually resolved and led to a reconciliation with his mother.
Zachery Ty Bryan, who portrayed the oldest Taylor sibling Brad, continued acting in projects such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. More recently, Bryan faced legal troubles: in early 2026 he received a 16‑month prison sentence after pleading guilty in connection with a 2024 driving‑under‑the‑influence arrest.
