Three Dead, Seven Wounded in Shooting at New In-N-Out Location in Twin Falls, Idaho

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — A gunman opened fire at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant here Saturday afternoon, killing three people—including an employee—and wounding seven others before the suspected shooter was found dead near the scene, police said.

The violence erupted around 2 p.m. in a crowded shopping plaza where hundreds of people were present, according to city spokesperson Josh Palmer. Officers responded to reports of an active shooter and discovered multiple victims at the restaurant, which had only opened its doors on July 24—less than a week before the attack.

"We believe the threat to the community is over," Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said at a news conference. "It was a very chaotic scene."

Investigators have not yet released the identities of the victims, saying they were working to notify family members. Among those killed was an In-N-Out employee.

The suspected gunman was found deceased near the restaurant, though authorities have not confirmed whether he was included in the three reported fatalities. Police are still working to identify the shooter and determine a motive.

Video recorded from across the street captured a person dressed in black carrying a long rifle toward a white vehicle. The individual opened the driver's door and the trunk before reaching inside, prompting the driver to flee out of concern the shooter might be retrieving additional weapons.

Multiple victims were transported to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center, where a spokesperson said staff were coordinating with law enforcement and emergency responders.

In-N-Out President Lynsi Snyder issued a statement Saturday expressing grief over the loss.

"We lost one of our beautiful Associates tonight," Snyder wrote on Facebook. "She was taking care of our most important asset—our Customers, and her life was taken by a disgusting human who doesn't value the lives of others or his own."

Snyder said the gunman fired both on and away from the restaurant property before taking his own life. She described the loss as deeply personal.

"My heart is broken, my chest is heavy, my eyes burn from the tears I've shed," she wrote. "I am no stranger to loss, but this is so incredibly tough, and my heart also goes out to all of the Associates and Customers who were there during this traumatic event."

The company, which is expanding into Idaho for the first time with this location, said it would support affected employees and customers and work to learn from the tragedy.

"We will stand together, and we will do everything we can to learn from this situation," Snyder said, urging the In-N-Out community to "turn to God, not in anger, but seeking comfort and strength for those who are hurting."

The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting local authorities with the investigation.

Twin Falls, a city of roughly 56,000 residents, sits about 130 miles southeast of Boise in southern Idaho.
