Multiple Wounded in Seattle Center Shooting During Food Festival

A shooting at Seattle Center on Sunday evening left several people injured as hundreds gathered for the Bite of Seattle food festival.

The incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. near the Armory building at the popular festival grounds. Emergency responders flooded the area as police worked to secure the scene.

Witnesses described chaos as shots rang out.

"Everyone was just throwing stuff and running," said Kayla Carris, 22, who was seated outside the Armory when the violence erupted. "Like everyone."

Todd Behrends, 59, was also at the festival when he heard multiple rounds of gunfire. He said the crowd stampeded toward exits, with people leaping over each other in desperation.

"One woman fell, and someone stepped on her leg," Behrends told The Seattle Times.

As he fled, Behrends said he saw a woman lying on the ground and a man being loaded onto a stretcher.

Seattle Police issued an urgent warning on social media, urging the public to avoid the area. Officers and fire crews arrived at the scene in the minutes following the shooting.

Authorities have not confirmed whether any suspects have been taken into custody. The Seattle Police Department declined to provide additional details when reached for comment, saying the investigation remains active.

The Bite of Seattle, an annual food festival held at Seattle Center, draws thousands of visitors to the waterfront campus each summer. The venue also houses museums, performance venues, and recreation areas.

This is a developing story.
