Nine baseball players named as finalists for Winkin Award

Left-handed ace Hudson Iacuessa of South Portland and slugging Cony shortstop Parker Morin are among the nine players named as finalists for the John Winkin Award, given to the state’s top senior baseball player.

The two are joined by Fryeburg Academy shortstop Alex Allain, Old Orchard Beach shortstop Trot Moody, Messalonskee first baseman Denny Martin, Mt. Desert Island shortstop Collin Sullivan, Ellsworth first baseman Jackson Barry, Dexter/Piscataquis shortstop Brady Gaw and Katahdin shortstop Calvin Richardson.

All nine players also pitch. Allain and Moody were Varsity Maine All-State players last season.

The winner of the award will be announced at the Senior All-Star Game at Saint Joseph’s College on June 23.
