In comparing President Trump to Graham Platner, the similarities are worth considering. Both are considered to be populists, both men have a checkered history of infidelity, and disregard for the integrity of women. Both men had no experience in government before running for office.
Platner and President Trump both benefit from receiving government financial support, Platner receives 100% disability payments, President Trump has used many government resources to enhance his income and net worth. One can only wonder as to how different the two men would be if Platner had the same power and government resources as the president?
As a lifelong Democrat, I feel very disappointed that the only Democratic candidate for Senate in Maine has both behavioral problems (his treatment of women) and receives government payment for full disability, which takes in mental health issues. It seems that these two aspects of Mr. Platner would make him unsuitable to be a senator.
I hoped a Green or Independent candidate might emerge that I would have felt comfortable voting for in November.
