Community Mourns the Loss of Annabelle Farley, 6, Following Brave Battle With Childhood Cancer
ARUNDEL — A community is grieving the loss of a young girl whose vibrant spirit and courage left a lasting mark on everyone she met. Annabelle Farley, age 6, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, at Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 1, 2019, at York Hospital, Annabelle was the beloved daughter of Camden Farley and Abigail Ouellet. From the moment she entered the world, she brought warmth and happiness to those around her, known especially for her radiant smile and striking red hair that reflected her lively, affectionate personality.
Annabelle was a first-grade student at Carl J. Lamb School, where her natural curiosity and eagerness to learn impressed her teachers and classmates. Outside the classroom, she expressed her creativity through singing, dancing, and painting — pursuits that filled her family's life with color and joy.
She was also a dedicated student of tae kwon do, approaching the martial art with enthusiasm, discipline, and the same determination that defined her approach to life.
Annabelle is survived by her younger brother, Theo Farley; her stepmother, Braelynne Trempe; and her stepfather, Noah Ouellet. She is also remembered by her grandparents, Michelle and Daniel Mitchell and Justine and Peter Farley, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished her presence at family gatherings.
Her family has asked that those wishing to honor Annabelle's memory consider donating to organizations that fund children's cancer research. In announcing that request, her loved ones wrote that Annabelle fought her illness with extraordinary courage, strength, and joy, and that her experience inspired hope that future children and families facing similar battles might find better outcomes.
A private service for family and close friends will be held on Friday, July 17, at 6 p.m. at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, located at 125 Sokokis Trail (Route 5) in East Waterboro. Online condolence messages may be submitted through the funeral home's website.
Annabelle's family and all who knew her say her legacy will live on in the songs she loved to sing, the artwork she created, and the laughter she shared so freely with everyone around her.
