SOUTH PORTLAND – Brad Tibbetts passed peacefully April 17, 2026.

Brad lived a full life – until he could not. Brad grew up in Maine attending schools in Cape Elizabeth, South Portland and Pittsfield (MCI). After a brief time at Miami Dade he found college not his thing – but Florida to be the place to be. There he met and married Pascal. They move briefly to France and then to Washington, D.C., where Brad had a successful house painting business. When that marriage ended, he moved back to Maine. He then took a teaching position in Kyoto, Japan. There he met and married Naoko. They had two children Kazu and Rae. After many years of teaching English, he retired moving his family to Maine (Waldoboro) and then by himself to Hawaii. As his neuromuscular disease worsened he again move back to Maine. He is survived by his sons Kazu (Chelsea and children Ace and Jet) and Rae. He is also survived by sister Valory Ramsdell Omasta (Mark, Kristen), niece Kristi Colpitts Robinson (Larry) and nephew Jeffery Colpitts (Shelly). There are many great nieces and nephews as well as great friends Gregg, Chucky and Reggie. Brad was preceded in death by parents Anne and Charles Ramsdell and sister and brother in law Stephanie Tibbetts and Richard Colpitts. Family invites family and friends to gather for food, drink and stories 2 p.m., Thursday July 23, at Willows on Broadway in South Portland.
