Obituary: Michael Dobson

Michael Dobson, a longtime New Gloucester resident and skilled carpenter, died on August 21, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on May 29, 1957, in the coastal town of North Yarmouth, where he grew up on Royal Road with his parents, Geneva “Baker” Dobson and Clinton Dobson.

Dobson spent much of his adult life working as a self‑employed craftsman, building furniture and custom woodwork for neighbors and businesses in the region. He earned a reputation for his meticulous attention to detail and the quality of his finished pieces.

Beyond his trade, Dobson was known for his love of the outdoors. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and exploring the woods and waterways of Maine, often sharing those adventures with family and friends. Friends and relatives remember him as a generous host who always had a seat at the table and a story to share.

The community mourns the loss of a man who was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and great‑uncle. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Christy, who passed away earlier that year. His family, friends, and neighbors have expressed deep gratitude for the memories he leaves behind.
