![](https://www.pressherald.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2026/07/rhayes-601262.jpg) Richard C. Hayes SCARBOROUGH – Richard C. Hayes passed away at his home in Scarborough on June 27, 2026. He was born in Massachusetts to Douglas and Helen Hayes on Nov. 21, 1944. His family moved to New Hampshire when he was in his teens, then his father was transferred to Maine, where he lived until his passing. He met his wife, Diane Corcoran, their senior year in high school. He attended Deering, and she attended Portland High School. They married and recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. After graduation, Richard started at Crane Supply, which eventually became F.W. Webb Company. He was in sales and eventually became general manager of the Portland branch and was a dedicated employee. He was also involved in Scarborough Little League and Scarborough Youth Soccer. He retired in 2011 and became involved with the Scarborough Town Council and attended other meetings. Richard was also an active participant in St. Margaret’s Church. Richard and Diane also faithfully attended their grandchildren’s activities. He was predeceased by his brother Dennis; and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; their son, Jeffrey and his wife Katy; his precious grandchildren, Moira and Conor; his brother, Douglas and his wife Sheila, his sister-in-law, Ferne; one niece and four nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 8, at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 9, at St. Margaret’s Church, 6 Saco Ave., Old Orchard Beach, at 11 a.m. Burial will be a private family gathering.
