Ogunquit voters support zoning changes to allow for playhouse’s $62M renovation

The updated zoning rules, approved by a 515-259 margin, will allow the historic playhouse’s properties to be combined into one campus as part of [its $62 million renovation plans](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/02/13/ogunquit-playhouse-looks-to-transform-itself-with-62-million-renovation/). Another measure redefined an ordinance to allow the playhouse to build new amenities like a mezzanine. That measure passed 498-261. [](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/02/13/ogunquit-playhouse-looks-to-transform-itself-with-62-million-renovation/) Related [Ogunquit Playhouse looks to transform itself with $62 million renovation](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/02/13/ogunquit-playhouse-looks-to-transform-itself-with-62-million-renovation/) Barbara Berman and Bradford Kenny, both longtime Ogunquit residents, said Tuesday at the polls that the playhouse expansion was a critical part of what motivated them to vote. “That’s something that we’re really passionate about in town,” Kenny said. **OTHER RACES** Town voters also elected Christopher Nobile and Heath Ouellette to the select board. Advertisement Ouellette and Nobile will succeed Chair Michael Collins and member Richard Dolliver, whose terms both end this year. Nobile clinched 522 votes, while Ouellette received 439, beating Peter Kahn, who got 350. Nobile and Kahn both currently serve on the town’s budget review committee. Voters also elected two new members of the budget review committee: Robert Winchester, who currently serves as an alternate on the board, and Stephen Wilkos. They edged out Patience Prescott-Sundaresan and are both set to serve three-year terms. Winchester received 505 votes, Wilkos received 420 and Prescott-Sundaresan received 307. Another 391 voters did not vote for any of the candidates, while five wrote in other names. James Langill was also elected for a three-year term as a trustee for the Ogunquit Sewer District. The newly elected officials will begin their terms at the start of the next fiscal year.
