Portland police are urging anyone with information about a homicide that took place on Aug. 5 to contact investigators. The victim was found dead in the city on the night of Aug. 5, and the case remains open.

Detectives say they have identified a small group of people who were near the location at the time and have released descriptions of those individuals in the hopes that they will come forward. The police request highlights that even minor details could prove crucial to the investigation.

The department has not released the cause of death, and the victim’s identity has not been disclosed pending notification of relatives. No arrests have been made, and investigators are asking the public for any video footage or other evidence that may have captured activity in the area around the time of the murder.

In a statement, the police emphasized the importance of community assistance. They noted that anyone who was in the vicinity on that night should reach out to the department, and that all tips, no matter how insignificant they may seem, could be helpful.

Police also asked local businesses and residents to review any surveillance cameras they may have and to submit any relevant footage. Those with information can contact the Portland Police Department’s non‑emergency line or visit the department in person.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities say they are following all available leads. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is encouraged to come forward to help bring closure to the victim’s family.
