Portland should bring in new road traffic rules | Letter

I read in the paper that the city is considering an emergency workshop on traffic safety after a pedestrian was unfortunately killed while standing on a raised median [(June 23).](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/23/portland-councilors-call-for-emergency-workshop-following-latest-pedestrian-death/) I certainly don’t think that anyone in the city thinks that it is a safe idea to stand there; I wouldn’t want my kids or family or friends doing that. Why doesn’t the city enact an ordinance that prohibits that?
