Portland woman accused of beating man with lead pipe on Cotton Street

A 26-year-old Portland woman has been charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct Friday morning after she allegedly beat a 61-year-old man with a lead pipe on Cotton Street.

Portland police said in a news release that officers responded to Cotton Street around 8 a.m. following a report of an assault. The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, including a head wound.

A few hours later, police located and arrested the woman, and she was taken to Cumberland County Jail.

Police are asking anyone with information that might assist in their investigation to call them at 207-874-8575.
