Beatles’ drummer Ringo Starr will play Portland’s Cross Insurance Arena on Oct. 3, the venue announced Monday.

His All Starr band features musicians who’ve played with other well-known pop and rock groups, including Steve Lukather, Toto; Colin Hay, Men at Work; Hamish Stuart, Average White Band; and Gregg Bissonette, the David Lee Roth Band.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at the arena or at Ticketmaster.com.

Starr, who turns 86 on Tuesday, is best known as the drummer for the legendary group The Beatles, helping to revolutionize pop music in the 1960s along with Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison. He’s been fronting his own band since the 1970s, recording and performing. He had several hit songs in the 1970s, including “Photograph,” “You’re Sixteen” and “It Don’t Come Easy.”

Starr announced a 10-city tour on Monday, with stops in Washington, D.C., Boston and New York City. He also invited people to say, think or post the words “Peace & Love” on his birthday, Tuesday, at noon their local time.

“We just finished a Spring tour which ended at the Greek. It was all so great — the audiences were so loving, and I just love playing with this band,” Starr said in a press release. “I’m really looking forward to these Fall shows. See you in September — Peace and love, Ringo.”
