A 43-year-old Sanford man was killed in a head-on collision Thursday night in Somersworth, New Hampshire, after his vehicle crossed the center line and struck another car.

Mark Shuttleworth was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Somersworth Police Department. He had been driving south when his vehicle crossed the yellow line and collided with an oncoming car, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to a hospital for treatment and was last known to be in stable condition, according to a department news release. That person is cooperating with investigators.

Evidence collected at the scene led police to believe Shuttleworth may have been impaired at the time of the crash. The Somersworth Police Department and the Strafford County Regional Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing to investigate.
