Sea Dogs walk off with win over Curve

Ahbram Liendo’s one-hopper deflected off Altoona third baseman Ryan McCarthy to allow the winning run to score in the bottom of the 10th inning and give the Portland Sea Dogs a 3-2 win in an Eastern League game Saturday at Hadlock Field in Portland.

Miguel Bleis started the inning at second base as the automatic runner. Altoona then intentionally walked Nelly Taylor to put runners on first and second. Bleis and Taylor executed a double steal before Liendo ended it.

Altoona’s Lonnie White Jr. popped up a bunt in the top of the inning that Portland turned into a double play.

The Curve took a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth inning on a two-run home run by Ryan McCarthy. Portland tied it in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly by Liendo.

Franklin Arias hit a sac fly in the first to give Portland a 1-0 lead.

Rehabbing Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Patrick Sandoval pitched five scoreless innings for Portland. Sandoval had elbow surgery and missed all of 2025, then had biceps tendonitis this spring to delay his return. He allowed one hit, struck out seven and walked one on Saturday.

Anthony Eyanson, the No. 2 prospect in the Red Sox farm system, allowed two runs on three hits in five innings of relief. He struck out seven and walked one.

Nick Sogard, also on a rehab assignment from the Red Sox, started at shortstop and went 0 for 2 and was hit by a pitch.
