Sophia Warren wins in recount of Senate District 30 Democratic primary

100%
Rep. Sophia Warren defeated Rep. Eleanor Sato by 31 votes in the recount in the Senate District 30 Democratic primary, the Maine Department of the Secretary of State announced on Monday.
Warren won 3,838-3,807 over Sato, the secretary of state’s office said in a news release.
Sato, who currently represents Gorham, had requested a recount when Warren, who currently represents Scarborough, was declared the winner by 29 votes in the initial tally. Both gave up their House seats to run for the Senate.
District 30 covers Gorham and part of Scarborough and is currently represented by Sen. Stacy Brenner, who did not seek reelection.
Two additional recounts are scheduled for Thursday, for the House District 49 Republican race and the House District 135 Democratic race, the secretary of state’s office also said.
Recounts consist of representatives of each candidate and staff members from the secretary of state’s office manually reviewing each paper ballot to determine official tallies.
Official results must be presented to the governor by June 29, and can be found on the [Election Results page](https://www.maine.gov/sos/cec/elec/results/index.html).
_Editor’s note: This story was updated on June 22 to clarify that Warren and Sato both gave up their seats in the Maine House._
