The Portland Hearts of Pine, Maine's professional soccer club, are working with city officials on a deal to play home matches at Fitzpatrick Stadium, the historic South Portland athletic facility that has hosted high school football and other events for decades. Under the agreement, which is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks, the team could host up to eight matches per year at the venue beginning in 2027.

The arrangement marks a significant step forward for the Hearts, who launched in 2024 and currently play in USL League One. The club has been searching for a long-term home that meets professional standards while also connecting with the region's sports history.

City leaders have signaled support for the partnership, which would bring regular professional soccer matches to a venue already familiar to local sports fans. Fitzpatrick Stadium, which underwent major renovations in recent years, offers seating capacity and amenities suited to professional play.
