Dan Sayre announced Monday that he is campaigning for the Maine Senate in District 34, a York County seat, aiming to bring what he described as a record of steady advocacy and constituent service to the upper chamber.

Sayre, a Democrat, is wrapping up his second term in the Maine House of Representatives, where he has represented District 135 since 2022. He framed his Senate bid around three guiding principles: compassion, honesty, and perseverance, and said his goal is to make sure every Mainer can "live, work and thrive" in the state.

"Serving the people of District 135 has been the honor of my life," Sayre said in announcing his campaign. "I am running for the Maine Senate because the people of York County deserve a representative who will show up, listen carefully, and fight for them every single day."

Sayre enters the race as the incumbent in his House seat, which covers communities in the Sanford area. Over the past four years, he has worked on issues ranging from housing affordability and energy costs to rural healthcare access and workforce development, according to his campaign biography.
