Supporting Dan Sayre for Senate District 34 | Letter

Dan Sayre, a Democratic state representative serving Maine's House District 135, is running for the state Senate seat in District 34, which covers Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Wells, Berwick and North Berwick.

Sayre has held his House seat since 2022. During his time in the Legislature, he has chaired the House Taxation Committee and served as co-chair of the bipartisan Innovation and Growth Caucus and the Maine-Canadian Legislative Advisory Commission.

Sayre's candidacy received a public endorsement from Stephen Sawyer of Kennebunk, who published a letter of support in which he praised Sayre's temperament and approach to governing.

"Dan listens carefully, approaches difficult questions thoughtfully and understands that representing a community means working with people who may not always agree with him," Sawyer wrote.

Sawyer also pointed to Sayre's family ties to the region, noting that four generations of the Sayre family live in southern Maine, and said the candidate understands both "the importance of protecting what makes our communities special" and the need to address challenges facing Maine families.

The seat is part of Maine's 2026 election cycle. Sayre's stated focus areas during his House tenure have included Maine's economy and policies aimed at lowering costs for working families.
