Suspect in Oregon Quintuple Killing Found Dead in Washington; Investigation Into Connection to Victims Ongoing

The man suspected of killing five people in a rural community west of Portland was found dead inside a vehicle in Enumclaw, Washington, on Sunday, an apparent suicide, authorities confirmed.

Benjamin Charles Parker, 36, became the focus of investigators after the bodies of five people were discovered Saturday at a home in a rural area near Forest Grove, Oregon, approximately 25 miles west of Portland. The discovery came after authorities responded to reports of a vehicle fire at the property early Saturday morning.

"Through their investigation, they believed that Parker was in Enumclaw, WA. Officers from the Enumclaw Police Department located Parker's vehicle and found him deceased inside. It is believed he died by suicide," the Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The Enumclaw Police Department also reported that an unidentified individual was found dead behind a Safeway grocery store in connection with the Forest Grove investigation. The relationship, if any, between this person and the quintuple homicide remains unclear.

Authorities have not released the identities, ages, or genders of the five victims. The manner of death has not been disclosed, nor have investigators publicly described any connection between the victims or between the victims and Parker. Detectives have stated they do not believe the killings were random, though no motive has been established.

"The type of animals found dead at the property was also not disclosed" remains part of the ongoing investigation.

Detectives are working to determine the victims' identities and piece together the circumstances that led to the discovery.

"Any time you have one person deceased, let alone five, that's a logistical challenge," said Detective Shannon Wilde of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, emphasizing the complexity of the investigation and the extensive crime scene.

Sheriff Caprice Massey echoed those concerns and appealed to the public for assistance.

"I will say that in my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex involving this type of an investigation," Massey said. She encouraged anyone familiar with the property or the people who lived there to contact authorities with any information.

The investigation has drawn resources from approximately a dozen law enforcement agencies. Authorities have stated there is no known threat to the public.
