Bangor Police Investigate Intrusion into Mt. Hope Apartment in Search of Stolen Vehicle Information

Bangor – Earlier this week, the Bangor Police Department announced that two adults and a teenage suspect entered a residential unit on Mt. Hope Avenue while allegedly looking for information related to a stolen vehicle. Police said the intrusion took place without any signs of forced entry and that the suspects had no prior record with the department.

The apartment complex, located in the downtown section of Bangor, is owned by a private landlord who has reported no previous incidents involving break‑ins or vandalism. Officers arrived on the scene after receiving a call from a nearby resident who reported hearing unfamiliar voices inside the building.

According to a statement from the police, the trio’s motive was to obtain details that could help locate or recover a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier in the month. The police are currently trying to determine the identity of the suspects and whether any additional evidence was taken during the visit.

No arrests have been made, and the department is urging anyone who may have information about the incident or the suspects to come forward. “We are treating this as a potential burglary and are looking into any possible civil or criminal liability for the individuals involved,” said a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.

The case underscores the ongoing challenge of vehicle thefts in the region. Local authorities are continuing to work with the Maine Bureau of Transportation and the FBI’s Auto Theft Unit to track and recover stolen vehicles. Residents of the Mt. Hope complex have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
