Maine Matters 2026

Read all of our coverage of Maine's 2026 election or stay up to date with the latest developments through the Maine Political Report in your inbox or text messages from politics editor Kirby Wilson.

Somebody needs to tell Dan Kleban that the only question for a senator is not, as he said in a recent op-ed, what’s right for Maine, it’s what’s right for the country (“Washington has forgotten how to do what’s right. I haven’t,” July 14).

A congressman might legitimately advocate mostly for Maine, not a U.S. senator.

That’s where Sen. Susan Collins has failed us: While tending to Maine’s trees, she has failed to see that the forest is on fire.
