Trump announces 'rally to end all rallies' in DC to celebrate America's 250th anniversary
President Donald Trump announced Thursday plans for a major rally in Washington, D.C., set to take place June 24 at 7 p.m., marking the official kickoff of the nation's 250th anniversary celebration.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the event as "the Greatest Rally, EVER" and emphasized his vision for a straightforward celebration focused on attendees and select speakers rather than high-profile musical acts.
"We don't want singers with no talent, but big fees to put you to sleep, we've told them all to stay home," Trump wrote. "All we want is you, me, a few speakers, and the Greatest Music ever played, the same Music you have listened to for years!"
The announcement follows Trump's recent suggestion to replace planned Freedom 250 concerts with a MAGA-style rally after several performers withdrew from the event. The concerts were scheduled as part of the Great American State Fair, a 16-day festival running June 25 through July 10 on the National Mall in conjunction with America's 250th anniversary commemorations.
Among the artists who announced they would not participate were Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Young MC, The Commodores, and Morris Day. Vanilla Ice, however, has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the Freedom 250 event, stating in an interview with Fox News Digital that criticism has only strengthened his resolve.
At the June 24 rally, country singer Lee Greenwood will introduce Trump and perform his signature song, "God Bless the U.S.A." Opera vocalist Christopher Macchio is also slated to perform, including renditions of "Nessun Dorma," "Hallelujah," "Ave Maria," and "God Bless America."
Trump further indicated that multiple military ensembles would provide musical performances, including the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own," the Armed Forces Choir, the United States Marine Band "The President's Own," and the Joint Armed Forces Chorus.
The Freedom 250 concerts have not been officially canceled, with organizers previously announcing that Trump would headline the opening ceremony of the Great American State Fair.
