A man wanted on a no-bail felony probation warrant in Monrovia, California, was arrested inside a Panda Express on July 17 after walking into the same restaurant where the officers searching for him were eating lunch.

The Monrovia Police Department had been trying to take the man into custody for roughly a month. During that time, officers attempted to arrest him on two separate occasions while he was out walking. Both times, he fled onto a nearby freeway and escaped, according to police.

The man has not been publicly identified. The warrant stems from a probation violation.

The breakthrough came by chance. Officers were on a lunch break inside a Panda Express when the wanted man walked into the restaurant, apparently unaware that the same officers who had been pursuing him were sitting inside. Body camera footage released by the department Thursday shows two officers eating before suddenly springing into action and taking the suspect to the floor.

In the video, the man can be heard asking, "What did I do?" One officer responds, "You've been wanted. You've been running from me for like a month."

The department shared the body camera footage on social media and quipped about the unusual circumstances of the arrest. "At this point, we're not sure if it was good police work, bad timing, or the irresistible smell of chow mein," the post read. "Either way, an arrest was made."

The officers did not let the takedown interrupt their meal for long. "And don't worry the officers went back for their food and finished their chow mein," the department added. "Priorities."

The Monrovia Police Department told Fox News Digital that its social media post and accompanying footage represent its full public statement on the incident, and no additional information would be released at this time.
