Maine game wardens Tuesday night arrested a Waterboro man, accusing him of hitting and dragging a landowner on Pequawket Lake Road with his ATV during a confrontation last week.
Devin Lafrance, 21, of Waterboro is charged with aggravated assault, reckless operation of an ATV and failing to stop and identify himself to the landowner, according to a news release.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, Lafrance allegedly struck and dragged the Limington resident approximately 75 feet. The landowner had stopped Lafrance, telling him to slow down on the trail while trying to take a picture of his vehicle and registration. The landowner suffered abrasions and contusions and was treated at the hospital that night. He was released the following morning.
According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Lafrance was taken to York County Jail where he was booked and later released.
The Maine Warden Service and the Maine State Police received several tips and reviewed trail camera footage that helped game wardens identify the make and model of the ATV, which led to a search warrant for Lafrance’s property and then a warrant for his arrest.
Limington landowners have recently [expressed growing frustration](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/02/limington-landowners-say-atv-riders-are-growing-disruptive/) with the disruptive behavior of ATV riders, leading the Limington Wheelers ATV Club to invest in cameras on the trails and request extra patrolling of the area.
