Waterville man charged with kidnapping

A Waterville man was arrested Saturday on charges of kidnapping and criminal restraint after a missing child was recovered in a Waterville home.
Shortly before 2 a.m., a 4-year-old was reported missing from a home on Main Street in Fairfield.
When officers didn’t find the child in the home, according to a news release from the Fairfield Police Department, they asked for additional officers, police dog units and the fire department to help . The Waterville Police Department, Maine State Police, Maine Warden Service, Somerset County Sheriff’s deputies and Fairfield-Benton Emergency Services responded.
Information was developed that lead officers to a Waterville home, the release states, where the child was found and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
Brandon Phair, 37, was at the home and was arrested and taken to the Somerset County Jail. He was charged with kidnapping and criminal restraint and is being held on $500,000 cash bail.
According to police, Phair is not related to the child, but is known to one of the residents at the Fairfield home.
