Actress Michelle Monaghan is sharing glimpses of a family vacation to Indonesia, her second trip to the Southeast Asian country in recent months.

The 50-year-old star posted a series of photos to Instagram showing her posing in a multicolored string bikini while standing in shallow, turquoise water off a quiet shoreline. Rolling hills and a rocky coastline are visible in the background under clear blue skies. In one image, she stands thigh-deep with her arms stretched out and her tongue out in a playful pose. In others, she strikes more relaxed poses, at one point resting one hand on the brim of an oversized woven sun hat while looking toward the sun, and in another raising both arms overhead while holding a drink.

"Brb maxxed out 🇮🇩," Monaghan captioned the post.

The getaway marks Monaghan's return to Indonesia after an earlier surfing trip she took shortly before starting work on her upcoming film "The Whisper Man," co-starring Robert De Niro. During an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Monaghan recounted how she mentioned the trip to De Niro while filming, and the actor asked whether she had seen the dragons.

"I was like, 'Oh, my God. I've missed the dragons,'" Monaghan said after learning about the country's famous Komodo dragons.

That exchange helped inspire her family's decision to return to Indonesia, this time planning a visit to Komodo National Park.

"We had a big family trip. We love a big adventure," Monaghan told Fallon. "And we went to Indonesia. It's a wonderful country. It's incredible. I highly recommend it."

Monaghan has been open in recent interviews about how her approach to health and fitness has shifted as she has entered midlife. In a May 2026 interview, she reflected on the experience of turning 50 and said the milestone has made her more deliberate about how she spends her time.

"Turning 50 has been a pretty amazing thing," Monaghan said. "I sort of look at that number and I find it actually hard to believe."

She added: "Turning 50 was, I guess, even more of an opportunity to continue to be intentional with the things that I do and the things, the people that I spend time with, how I spend time myself, and to really maximize all of those things."

Monaghan said she feels physically stronger now than she did in her younger years.

"I am absolutely stronger than I was in my 30s," she said.

Her current routine centers on strength training three times a week, often in an early morning class, supplemented by walking, hiking, jogging and Pilates when her schedule permits. She said the combination has become especially important as she navigates perimenopause.

"Now I'm at an age where midlife, I'm perimenopausal, taking care of my body and my muscles and my bones is of utmost importance," Monaghan said.

She added that Pilates has become a favorite part of her week because of its emphasis on flexibility and breathwork.

"I also really love Pilates," she said. "I try to do it a couple times a week if my schedule allows, but that makes me feel really good because it's, it's a lot about flexibility, and it also incorporates a lot of the breath."

Known for roles in "Mission: Impossible III," the first season of HBO's "White Lotus," and a range of other films and series, Monaghan continues to balance her acting career with a family life she has described as grounded by her small-town Iowa roots.
