BRUNSWICK – Lennie Diane Gray, 76, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, after complications following a stroke.
Lennie was born on June 26, 1949, in Seattle, Washington, to L.D. and Shirley Clark. She met her husband, Rev. Stephen Gray, at Langdale Congregational Christian Church, UCC, Langdale, Ala., where he was the Interim Minister. During their years of marriage, they lived in Nashville, Tenn., Bethlehem, Pa., Hopkinton, Mass., and Indianapolis, Ind., before retiring to Brunswick. Along the way they became a family of four with the birth of their daughter and son.
For 44 years Lennie worked full and part-time as a registered nurse. She initially received her training at Georgia Baptist School of Nursing, Atlanta, Ga., and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Tennessee in Nashville. Her work life included: RN at Langdale, Ala., Hospital; Industrial Nurse at Dunson Mill, Lagrange, Ga.; RN at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tenn.; Homecare RN for Allentown, Pa., Hospital; RN at New England Center for Autism, Southborough, Mass.; Homecare RN for Framingham, Mass., Hospital; Wound care RN at Winona Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind.; Wound Care RN at Westview Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind., and Wound Care RN at Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford.
Lennie loved her role as a mother and wife, with nothing being as important to her as her family. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed gardening and reading, and was an avid quilter and fabric artist in her retirement. She was very involved in her church where she served on a refugee resettlement program, prepared meals for a local homeless shelter, delivered food, and prepared quilts for international world relief.
Lennie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rev. Stephen Gray; her two children, Stephanie Gray of Westbrook, and Andrew Gray of Brunswick, her sister, Vicki Hackler (Ronnie) of Pascagoula, Miss., and brother Kevin Clark (Donna) of Semmes, Ala. She was pre-deceased by her father, L.D. Clark (Moss Point, Miss.) mother, Shirley (Nelson) Clark, and sister Lannon Ruth (both of Pascagoula, Miss.).
A celebration of life memorial service and reception will be held at First Parish Church, United Church of Christ, Brunswick, on Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m. The service will be streamed at [http://www.firstparish.net](http://www.firstparish.net) for those who are unable to attend.
