State police investigating fatal crash in Newburgh

One person is dead after a single-car crash in Newburgh on Saturday. Around 1:30 p.m., State Troopers responded to the scene just north of the Exit 174 on-ramp. Police identified the operator of the vehicle as 58-year-old Darcel Geiser, of Brewer, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. A preliminary investigation indicated that Geiser was not wearing a seatbelt. Newburgh Fire Department, LifeFlight of Maine and MaineDOT also responded to the scene. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
